Garden and old trees opening onto the golden floodplain

The area

Where the garden ends, the floodplain begins

The house sits on the edge of open grassland in Botswana. The water rises and falls with the season, the grass turns from green to gold, and the light does most of the work.

The floodplain at your fence line

The grassland in front of the house floods and dries with the season, so the view is never the same twice. Early morning and last light are the hours to sit out.

Birdlife from the deck

The old trees and the open water draw birds all day. Bring binoculars; the deck is the hide.
